Dança Pessoal is literally translated from Portuguese into English as ‘Personal Dance’. In English and in other translations of other languages it usually has an obvious meaning – your own dance, idiosyncratic moves, movement from within, improvisational choreography, your own style of dancing, etc – which, even in Portuguese language if you are not into the Physical Theatre scene in Brazil, also means everything listed before. Wow! David! How did you find this video?
ReplyDeleteIt is really amazing to see this video here because it was actually filmed by a friend of mine. He's a student here at Tampere unversity and he used this video to demonstrate us the training methods he was studing in his BA thesis. Amazing to see it here! :D
Hey Marjukka,
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence! Well, I chose that video because i couldn't find any video with danca pessoal or what they call 'energetic' exercises. I guess it's hard to find them in youtube for they are very personal and intimate exercises, maybe that's the reason. I liked the video of your friend (hope to meet him when in Finland), very didatic. I know that's not a danca pessoal example, but it follows the same principals of physical theatre. Thanks for commenting, really appreciated!!!
Hey David. We (Martin and Jo) from Warwick were intrigued by your post too. We posted a blog about it with some of our thoughts, we'd love to hear what you think! We are WAR Group C.
